Status of frameworks for Sustainable precincts and Communities in Australia and successful examples and policies from overseas
There is a renewed focus on sustainable and strategic city planning. COAG in December 2009 set out the criteria for strategic planning of capital cities that included elements such as sustainable, liveable and socially inclusive.
Communities, urban development are the building blocks of sustainable cities – yet there is little consensus on what constitute ‘good development’.
Is proximity to public transport is ‘good development’, or a development that is not close to existing public transport but rather presents new opportunities for transport renewal plans?
